Cat Mountain in Weston, Massachusetts, was a small ski area that operated briefly from 1957 to 1978. Located off of Drabbington Way on the north side of Weston, it was a modest ski area with a single rope tow and a few trials for beginner and intermediate skiers. The mountain failed as a ski destination due to a combination of factors. These included its small size, which limited its appeal, competition from larger ski areas in New England, and inconsistent snowfall, which made it difficult to sustain reliable skiing conditions. Additionally, as ski technology advanced, the lack of snowmaking equipment at Cat Mountain further restricted its development, leading to its closure after just a few seasons. Today, Cat Mountain is known as a walking trail, popular with westonians when the weather is reasonable.
